Dr. Sandra O’Brien is a fulltime professor, a family nurse practitioner and public health clinical nurse specialist and earned her advanced practice degrees and her PhD in Nursing at The Catholic University of America. In her role as a public health nurse, Dr. O’Brien has developed a keen awareness of needless deaths and injury suffered worldwide. She ponders whether public health nurses and other health and human service providers lack a presence in official and non-governmental organizations’ advocacy and outreach to families in educational and prevention efforts. Dr. O’Brien’s long-range vision is to spearhead efforts to engage nurses and other medical and human service providers to bridge this gap.
