Roy Deppa is a partner in Marchica & Deppa, a product safety consulting firm established in 2005, providing services to manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers such as setting up safety management programs and consulting services relating to the policies and practices of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.  Roy is a registered Professional Engineer and graduate of the University of Maryland in Mechanical Engineering.  After 8 years doing design research for the U.S. Navy, he spent 28 years at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in various positions. As Acting Director of the Mechanical Engineering Division, he was responsible for regulatory development and compliance engineering work for a wide range of mechanical products. From June 2002 through September 2005, he was Associate Director of the Recalls and Compliance Division, supervising Compliance Officers whose duties were to enforce regulations, investigate product hazards, and process recalls.
