Ross Koeser

Founding Member and Former Executive Director

Ross Koeser's career started with the National Bureau of Standards (currently the National Institute of Science & Technology), where he worked with the states to achieve uniformity of weights and measure laws and regulations.  He transferred to the Food & Drug Administration, Bureau of Product Safety where he was Deputy to the Executive Director with major responsibilities in state and local relations. 

The FDA responsibilities for Product Safety were transferred to a new Federal agency- the US Consumer Product Safety Commission where Ross was named the Director for State Programs.  He ended his Federal career as Deputy Director of Field Operations. Ross has traveled to every state and every state capital during his career. 

After retiring from the CPSC, he was instrumental in starting  and developing the International Consumer Product Health & Safety Organization.  In 1994, he was named the Executive Director of ICPHSO where he served for almost 20 years. He oversaw the growth of ICPHSO from its initial meeting of 130 attendees to its current attendance of nearly 800. Financially the organization grew from a budget $10,000 to to nearly one million dollars. ICPHSO is considered a must attend meeting for Product Safety leaders worldwide.

He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Association Food & Drug Official's  prestigious Harvey W. Wiley Award, two time recipient of CPSC's Distinguished Service Award, and ICPHSO's first Ross Koeser Award for exceptional service to the organization.

Ross has a degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He is married and has four children and nine grandchildren.
