Patty Adair

Patty Adair is the Director of the Risk Management Group at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).  In this role, she is responsible for the agency’s risk management program, which includes five program areas – chemical, fire and combustion, children’s, electrical, and mechanical. 

Patty joined the CPSC staff in 2004 as a Textile Technologist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clothing, Textiles and Related Arts from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Science in Textile Engineering from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University).    

From 1998-2003, Ms. Adair was on the staff of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI).  While with ATMI she was involved with various national and international standard-setting and regulatory activities.  Before joining ATMI, she worked on a variety of regulatory issues, including fiber and textile flammability and workplace health and safety, in the Washington office of the National Cotton Council.  

From 1988-1991 she served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana.
