Mary Toro has worked in various positions at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission for the past 30 years.  She joined the CPSC in December 1983, as a textile technologist in the Directorate for Engineering Sciences.  She transferred to the Office of Compliance to concentrate her work in the regulatory area.  Her specific responsibilities included enforcement of regulations and standards under the various statutes administered by the CPSC, in conjunction with providing advice and guidance to the regulated industry. 

In April of 2000 she was promoted to Associate Director of the Chemical, Clothing, Household Products & Tools Team.  In 2008 she became Director of the Regulatory Enforcement Division.  Her team of compliance officers advises the regulated industry and stakeholders on their responsibilities under the Acts, enforces the Standards, Regulations and bans that the CPSC administers, and processes reports made under Section 15 of the CPSA. 

Mary lives in Maryland and received a BS in Textile Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
