Bruce Farquhar is an internationally recognized expert on non-food consumer product safety. Bruce works as a consultant for a number of governments and inter-governmental organizations around the world. He specializes in market surveillance and international collaboration. Bruce is a senior consultant for PROSAFE, the Product Safety Forum of Europe, coordinating Joint Market Surveillance Activities in the European Union. Bruce began his career as a Trading Standards Officer in the UK before moving to Brussels where he worked for BEUC, the European Consumers Association. In Brussels he established ANEC, the European Consumer Voice in Standardisation, where he was the first Secretary–General. Bruce has provided support to the OECD’s Working Party on Consumer Product Safety and to the ICPSC, the International Consumer Product Safety Caucus. Bruce has also organised a series of successful meetings in Europe for ICPHSO, the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organisation.
