Patricia (Patty) Edwards is the Voluntary Standards Coordinator for the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Patty received her B.S. degree in Materials Engineering from Va Tech and her M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to her career with the CPSC, she spent 15 years in private industry working as a litigation technical expert and project manager for a forensic engineering firm. After joining the CPSC staff in 1998, Patty focused on juvenile products and served as the agency’s engineering expert in children’s products, assisting the Office of Compliance with cases involving children’s products. Starting in 2009, Patty served as the program manager for the CPSIA (Section 104) regulatory program to promulgate over 20 regulations for durable nursery products. In February 2016, Patty was promoted to her current position where she oversees the activity and participation of the CPSC staff that pertains to voluntary standards development.
