Lithium ion batteries have inundated our lives, and with their increased used we have seen more frequent reports of battery issues that can have devastating consequences.  Our panel will first explain the basic design and workings of lithium ion batteries, and demonstrate forensic techniques for determining whether and how a lithium battery may have played a role in a product-related incident.  Our panel will also explain how regulators, both in the U.S. elsewhere, have been dealing with lithium ion battery issues, and finally, explain the sometimes complicated logistics of recalls involving products powered by lithium ion batteries.
